Plans to visit Allsop at Midsummer. Alludes to sister Mary's illness ("She is dead to me for many months.") Comments on previous letter from Allsop: "How you frighted me. Never write again 'Coleridge is dead' at the end of a line, and tamely come in with 'to his friends' at beginning of another." Signed: "C.L."

Thomas Allsop 1795-1880, entered the silk mercery trade in London in 1812. He then joined the Stock Exchange. He made the acquaintance of Samuel Coleridge in 1818, and on the poet's death published his 'Letters, Conversations, and Recollections'.
